A split heat pump system is a heating and cooling system that consists of two separate units: an outdoor unit containing the compressor and condenser, and an indoor unit (air handler) that circulates air within the home, allowing it to both extract heat from the outside air to warm a space during colder months and remove heat from inside to cool a space during warmer months
